Dr. William Limongelli launched a “Good Deed” Contest back in February of this year which ended on April 15, 2011 and was open to any youth 18 years of age and under. Children were urged to join the Good Deed Contest by submitting an essay about a good deed they had done.

Dr. Limongelli collected a large number of excellent essays about good activities performed. It was a close competition, but the winning essay went to 14-year-old Angela Cintron, who was awarded the grand prize, a laptop computer.

Angela recently participated in the local community cleanup which takes place every spring to celebrate Earth Day. “I helped with each of the street cleanups in Yonkers because it helps the environment and it keeps the earth clean,” says Angela, “I think it’s a good deed because I’m helping the community and I volunteer because if everyone keeps doing it maybe other people will come and join us.”

“I decided to volunteer because I wanted to make a positive impact on the community and to show that kids can do important things like helping out in their neighborhood and changing them for the better,” explains Angela.

Dr. William Limongelli awarded Angela a brand new laptop computer on April 29, 2011 at approximately 6:30p.m. The prize giving took place at the Council Chamber of the Yonkers City Hall. Attending the prize giving event was Council Woman Patricia McDow (Majority Leader), Chm. Ken Jenkins (Legislator 16th District), Hon. Edward J. Gaffney, Jr. (Yonkers City Judge) and Geoffrey A. Davis MS (Co-founder and Chairman of Stop Violence Foundation).
